Duo exhibition by Djabril Boukhenaïssi and Blaise Schwartz
Nocturne en plein jour brings together, for the first time since meeting in the studio of Djamel Tatah at the Beaux-Arts de Paris, works by Djabril Boukhenaïssi and Blaise Schwartz: seven prints by the former and around twenty paintings by the latter.
The exhibition takes its title from Jules Supervielle’s 1938 poem Nocturne en plein jour, which describes the organic world from within the body. A blind space, withdrawn from view, this omnipresent night within every being opens simultaneously onto a material reality and an inner landscape.FR
Nocturne en plein jour réunit, pour la première fois depuis leur rencontre à l’atelier de Djamel Tatah aux Beaux-Arts de Paris, les œuvres de Djabril Boukhenaïssi et Blaise Schwartz : sept gravures pour le premier, une vingtaine de peintures pour le second.
Le titre de l’exposition est emprunté au poème Nocturne en plein jour (1938) de Jules Supervielle, qui décrit le monde organique de l’intérieur du corps. Espace aveugle, soustrait aux regards, cette nuit omniprésente en chaque être ouvre à la fois sur une réalité matérielle et sur un paysage intérieur.

Blaise Schwartz est né à Gien en 1992 et travaille entre la France et la Chine. Il est diplômé avec les félicitations du jury des Beaux-Arts de Paris en juin 2016.
Dans ses dessins et ses peintures, Blaise Schwartz crée des espaces où le temps profond de l’évolution du vivant rencontre l’accélération propre à l’Anthropocène. Il conçoit la peinture comme une pensée visuelle et un médium onirique : à la fois matière, surface et image, elle ouvre de nouvelles formes d’attention à un monde dont nous nous sommes progressivement détachés — celui des éléments, des animaux et des êtres vivants.
